Hi! About the dubbing... Here in Holland only movies for (small) children are dubbed. All other movies and television series are subtitled. We're used to reading and watching at the same time. Actually, dubbed movies are considered to be very weird and unnatural here. Some commercials are dubbed and I'm not persuaded in any way to buy the products they endorse. I can't take them seriously (especially when the original was in German). As to knitting and watching movies with subtitles, I totally agree with going for a stockinette project. greatings Jenneke
How funny that Jenneke made a comment about dubbing and subtitles in Holland, and I am too. I teach English in a Dutch high school. I am generally amazed at how good (although not perfect) the English of some of the kids is. I think it comes from all the exposure to English through subtitled movies and the such.
I don't think it's pretension as much as snobbery, as far as subtitles go. And I will admit to that.

Ooh! Ooh! Holly! You need this T-shirt: http://www.threadless.com/product/844/Spoilt
I had to look up a couple of the references online, and finally gave up and asked my daughter about the bottom one on the right. Let me know how you do with it.
